ALL ABOUT ME



Experienced, meticulous, intellectually curious journalist with a head for business and a passion for media, creativity and the culture, I am a busy writer, editor and content strategist for hire who worked for many years on staff and in editorial management positions at B2B magazines and websites in New York specializing in media, advertising and brand marketing. 


I am the former executive editor of Adweek, where I was in charge of all long-form content and special themed issues (including the closely watched "Hot List," an annual ranking of the top magazines); produced numerous, buzzy covers featuring celebrities and leading players in advertising and media; and launched successful editorial franchises for the weekly magazine and its companion website, social channels and events business. I now work on a freelance basis, creating original content and thought leadership, developing media strategies and managing projects (editorial, advertorial, custom, promotional, awards programs, video content, social media and events/experiential) for media companies, advertising and PR agencies, brand marketers and startups in New York, LA and points in between. I have produced content for Digiday and its offshoots WorkLife, Glossy and Modern Retail, as well as Substack, Medium, Ad Age, Variety, Spotify, Live Nation, Pinterest, GroupM, Grey Advertising, Epsilon, The Village Voice and many others.


I have earned a reputation in the media and marketing space for impeccable journalistic standards and the execution of highly relevant, informative content that it also stylish and engaging. It is a great compliment when people tell me I'm their favorite writer; it is an even bigger one when I'm told I write about what everyone else is thinking and ask the questions they wanted to ask. I've covered topics ranging from the ascent of data-driven advertising to the evolving marketing tactics of the Hollywood studios in the age of streaming video, the marketing campaigns of consumer brands from Amazon to Quaker Oats, and the rise and fall and rise of Martha Stewart. I've profiled everybody from Rupert Murdoch to RuPaul, and my work has been cited by publications including New York Magazine, Business Insider, The Huffington Post, the New York Post, Mashable, The Nation and Reuters, and in books including Superficial: More Adventures From the Andy Cohen Diaries, Save Me the Plums by former Gourmet editor in chief Ruth Reichl, and Straight News: Gays, Lesbians and the News Media by Edward Alwood.


After more than two decades in the business, I have built an extensive roster of contacts from Madison Avenue to Hollywood, among them decision makers in media, entertainment, technology, advertising, PR and the workforce management industry. I have appeared as an authority on media, marketing and the culture on ABC's Good Morning America, CNBC's Squawk Box, CBS This Morning, MSNBC, CNN and NPR; interviewed industry leaders from the stage at high-profile industry gatherings like the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and Advertising Week New York and produced content from cultural events like the Academy Awards, the Tribeca Film Festival, the National Magazine Awards, the DuPont Awards and the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
